Basic principles of Lithium Batteries
A Lithium Battery is a battery that stores and releases energy by moving lithium ions between positive and negative electrodes. The basic principle is a battery system composed of positive electrode materials (such as lithium cobalt oxide), negative electrode materials (such as graphite), electrolytes and separators. During the charging process, lithium ions are deintercalated from the positive electrode and move through the electrolyte to the negative electrode to be embedded in the graphite; during the discharge process, lithium ions are deintercalated from the negative electrode and return to the positive electrode, releasing energy.

Lithium battery structure and working method
Lithium batteries usually consist of a positive electrode, a negative electrode, an electrolyte and a separator. Commonly used positive electrode materials are lithium cobalt oxide, lithium nickel cobalt manganate, etc., the negative electrode is graphite, and the electrolyte is usually an organic solution or polymer. The function of the electrolyte and separator is to prevent direct contact between the positive and negative electrodes to avoid short circuits. Lithium batteries realize the reciprocating movement of lithium ions between the positive and negative electrodes through the charge and discharge process, thereby completing the storage and release of energy.
